How do I get myself into these things?

It’s election time again in Ontario and I find myself thoroughly involved in another campaign. This, despite the fact that I had previously resolved NOT to do so.

So why did I do it? It’s not like I don’t already have enough on my plate politically with my duties as Membership Chair for the Newmarket-Aurora Federal Green Party Association, not to mention all of the other commitments I have in my life. Ultimately I think it must be because, with no provincial Green Party constituency association in the riding, somebody had to help, and I have some experience from the last federal campaign.

Thankfully some of my cohorts from the EDA have also stepped up, as well as some new faces. So special thanks go to Glenn Hubbers, for lending his experience to the candidate, John Uppington, Financial Agent for the campaign and Maryam Nasser who will be handling communications and media relations. And, of course, major props to John McRogers who stepped up to the plate to run for the Green Party in Newmarket-Aurora.

Ultimately, I guess it comes down to my nature. I like to help and I’ve come to the conclusion that it is my responsibility to actually act when I see that a cause I believe in needs someone to step up. I just hope that more Canadians will come to see things my way and step up for the causes that they believe in.
